PRESS RELEASE

XAVIER’S BETHLEM BUMPER: Cycling around the Bethlem to raise money for the Cavell  Trust’s 10K for Nurses and Midwives.

12 – 2pm
12th October 2020
Bethlem Royal Hospital

2020 is International Year of the Nurse and Midwifes. Xavier White wishes to express his gratitude by raising money for the Cavell Trust, cycling 10k a circular route around the grounds of the Bethlem Royal Hospital, Beckenham Kent.

Xavier is a head injury survivor, starting his rehabilitation on the neurology ward at the Maudsley in 1985. Then returning with his Xavier White’s Full Circle Exhibition in 2014.

This connection continues through becoming an Artist volunteer at Bethlem Gallery. During his time there, in addition to showing his Cohedia, Large Canvas,  at the Utopia 2016 exhibition, Xavier was asked to represent the Museum of the Mind, for the Museum of the Year award, and featured on BBC’s Artsnight coverage.

Xavier became the first artist in residence at the School of Health and Social Care, London South Bank University with the mental health-nursing students and produced several exhibitions at LSBU. Leading onto make & install, ‘In Loving Memory’, a stained glass fanlight’s scheme in tribute to his long term friend and nurse Jo Mead, Kings College Hospital, and for the NHS’s 70th anniversary.

Xavier has also donated several of his glass artworks, entitled, ‘Blessed’s’ inspired by the Groucho Marx quote ‘Blessed are the cracked for they let in the light’. He got to give one to his original neuro surgeon Mr Charles Polkey, at the opening of Polkey Ward, Kings College Hospital. These works were created during his LSBU residency and Xavier is willing to donate others to worthy causes. Please do get in touch at xavierhilts@gmail.com

If you wish to support his efforts through sponsorship, please log onto the Cavell Trust 10K event site and make a donation.
