“I have a long involvement with Mycenae House, and appreciate its function and garden, as a resident of Blackheath. I used to work at the after-school club and a caretaker there for a period but had to leave to take up my degree course in Swansea.
These three pieces are part of the final artworks completed on my degree course, so it is only fitting they are being returned to a place of community learning and a sanctuary for us all engaged in a busy modern world.
These three stained glass panels are offered in an appreciation of the work and values of Mycenae House for others in our community to enjoy.”

Carpe Diem: A medieval style self portraitAt Swansea, we were studying medieval cathedral’s stained glass windows, as a method of communication to the community, providing re stylised self portrait, of me, riding a bicycle, which is when and how I obtained a long term head injury. This has not stopped me from making the most of every day, (carpe diem) as I learned to walk and talk again post head injury. I still enjoy the freedom of riding my bicycle, as my walking gait can be unsteady, particularly when fatigued. I hope this piece brings joy, hope and that sense of adventure riding my bicycle brings to me, on a daily basis.
Maritime project of Gower Lighthouse + Deco sun
We were asked to make a design for a Swansea new maritime museum, to upgrade the existing museum. I used inspiration of the view of the Gower Peninsula and Mumbles with its life saving lighthouse from my bedroom window, where the sun set every evening in the West.
There is a little reference to the peninsula & lighthouse in the bottom corner, for those who wish to seek it out.

I have a long involvement with Mycenae House, and appreciate its function and garden, as a resident of Blackheath. I used to work at the after school club and a caretaker there for a period but had to leave to take up a degree opportunity in Swansea. These pieces are part of the degree artworks completed on my degree course, so it is only fitting they are being returned to a place of community learning and a sanctuary for us all engaged in a busy modern world. I wish to donate three stained glass panels to as an appreciation of the work and values of MH for others in our community to enjoy and appreciate.
The basket, after my accident I noticed how much more visible cyclist were with a basket on the front. In the basket could be said to represent my creative burden, a precious sheet of yellow glass piece inspired by Turner’s quote ‘The Sun is everything’.
On the front of the is the name of my intended destination Cohedia’s mind-expanding cityscape was inspired by my foundation course. A destination I was hoping to pursue with the learning support offered to disabled students at the time.

Underneath, patterns of routine on the long road swings, round abouts, ups & downs to be practiced / overcome along life’s bumpy road. The tyre tread pattern is my motif of displacement to move me forward along the creative journey toward Cohedia.
The green T-shirt is a tip to the green power / transport direction we need to go in. Got a bike, green mode of transport and got the T-shirt!
On my head is a white helmet, by name by visibility, has flailing neurons coming out of the ventilation slots a reference to my brain trauma. Behind my head is the NHS hazardous materials symbol to indicate the care & support that a head injury required to the individual & family after such an injury.
Border Full of circles a medieval technique, which is a kind of premonition of my Xavier White Full Circle homecoming exhibition at Maudsley Hospital in 2014. I was treated in the Maudsley after my coma in 1985.
